Easy to Enroll and Report: In order to be eligible for the SAC program, individuals must be a member in good standing with the ASHA. All ASHA show rules apply to the SAC program. They are listed as follows: SAC: Show Eligibility Rules :
A. Shire stallions, mares, and geldings registered with the American Shire Horse Association, the Canadian Shire Horse Association (CSHA) or the Shire Horse Society (SHS) are eligible to show in SAC Approved classes. “Notified Colts” that are parentage verified and recorded in the name of the exhibitor are eligible to show. B. Foals must be registered with the appropriate Shire registry prior to being shown at SAC approved shows. C. Horses must be entered by the owner(s) listed on the horse’s registration paper. Show entry forms usually list this as ‘exhibitor’ or ‘entrant’. Persons acting as agent or handler for the horse being shown may not be listed as the exhibitor. The owner does not have to be the person showing the horse. Leased horses may be entered by the lessor as recorded by the respective associations. D. Mares registered as 3/4 and 7/8 Shire may be shown with full registered mares. Geldings registered as 3/4, 7/8 or 15/16 Shire may be shown with full registered geldings. E. When a horse registered with SHS or CHSA (but not with ASHA) is entered, a copy of the registration paper must be sent to the SAC Secretary in order to allow verification of eligibility. F. Copies of registration papers, showing the exhibitor as owner, must be presented to the SAC Show coordinator for ALL late or post entered horses before they may be shown. G. Any horse found to be ineligible to show after the judging will forfeit all points and awards.
Steps to nominating your horse and collecting points: 1) Members must nominate their horse with a qualified application, copy of registration papers and fees paid to SAC and all sent to the SAC Secretary before they can begin earning points. Once your application is reviewed you will be sent a letter with the SAC information and copy of the form needed to fill out for your official report for show results. 2) Next, if you place in a SAC approved class/ show; you will then fill out the official report. 3) Lastly, ask the show official on file for the show to verify and sign the show results. For points to be counted, the report must be properly filled out with no missing information, and returned to the SAC Secretary no more than 30 days after the show. You will have 90 days to submit any corrections to the form. All corrections must be accompanied with an official printout of the show results from the show secretary. Points are totaled for the horse in the same manner that premium points are totaled for the ASHA Premier Points Program.
Variety of Competitions or Classes Approved for Points: The SAC program is open to most types of competitions. Organizations must keep official records of the show for one year. Anytime through that year the SAC Secretary may request copies of those results for verification of points and entries. In order for a show to be eligible for nomination the event must be sponsored by an association, organization or affiliate that has: 1) An established record- keeping system 2) Established governing body (Board of Directors), 3) A representative (usually the show secretary) that will sign the forms. |
