Introduction: The Shire Alternative Competition Points Program (SAC) knows that the Shire and Shire Sport horse is a talented and versatile individual that performs in many activities and events outside of the ASHA sanctioned National and Regional Shows. The goal of the SAC program is to recognize those horses and owners for their accomplishments in the competitive events that they enjoy.
What is the Shire Alternative Competition (SAC) Program? SAC accepts nominations for many equine organizations, fairs, local draft horse associations and trail rides. Many Shire and Shire Sport Horse owners live and participate in local events and activities that fall outside the category of an “ASHA-approved National and regional show.” SAC will record performance and halter points from SAC recognizes each year State Sanctioned Fairs, Corporate Shows and Stock Shows, like Denver Stock Show or Calgary Stampede. A working list of these preapproved shows is in this document. Follow the guidelines as posted to enter these shows and count your points. If you have a show that fits in this category, please submit it for nomination.Even though the ASHA is not officially associated with these events, the association does want to recognize the efforts of shire owners using their Shire horse. As a result, Shire and Shire Sport horse owner’s accomplishments will be recorded on all registered Shire and Shire Sport horses. These points are then listed on their official performance record with the ASHA. |
