Makoshika
Bowmen
An archery range,
operated by the Makoshika Bowmen, is located six miles inside the park.
The walking course contains three dimensional and paper target stations,
including elevated shooting platforms for realistic shooting simulation.
Membership in the Makoshika Bowmen is required to use the archery range,
but the public is invited to the several shooting events held each year at the
course to see if they are interested in joining.
Contact Makoshika Bowmen President Jim Thompson at 406-687-3412 for
more information.
Hunting
Hunting is allowed in
certain areas of Makoshika. Mule
Deer is the only game species in the park for hunters to pursue, and hunting
is regulated according to the regulations of the Hunting District in which the
park is located. Hunters are
encouraged to check in with the park staff for a free map showing the boundaries
of the hunting areas in the park. No
discharge of firearms is allowed between May 1 and September 1.
