JUST  FOR  FARMERS

Multi-Peril Crop Insurance

Another spring has come.  In this busy time of year there are a few reminders to note:

  • If you reseeded your winter wheat, do not report those acres as spring wheat.  According to your crop insurance, that crop is still winter wheat. (The exception to this is if you have the winter wheat option B coverage.)

  • Any forage that does not qualify for coverage under your Multi-Peril Crop Insurance can be covered if you certify those acres at the FSA.  Your forage is then covered under NAP.

  • Please turn in your acreage report as soon as possible so that we can get it processed.  The deadline is June 30, but early reports are always welcome.

  • Oats and barley may be seeded for hay.  You may then choose to insure or not insure that hay.  Just designate on your acreage report that it is "for hay."  Also, please specify "insure" or "not insured."

  • CAT policies are now billed in the fall just like regular Multi-Peril Crop Insurance.  For 1999 the administrative fee will be $60.
