12:30 am. - Leksie is still stable and pressures are stable. I did find out what each tube does and here is a list.
Tubes:
1:30 am - Stable, sleeping good.
6:00 am - The Dr. removed the two chest tubes because her bleeding slowed and was getting clear. Removed the catheter. Removed the 3 line tube that measured the pressures from her neck, the other tube in her neck is still there.
8:30 am - Removed the mouth tube which gave her oxygen (big step the next 24 hrs will be big), when they did this they put a square plastic box over her head to keep the air clean (will be on for about 24 hrs). Removed the nose tube also. At around 12:00 or 1:00 she may get to eat out of a bottle.
9:00 am - Leksie opened her eyes real big like she used to, she looked around, she sucked her binky, made a couple of peeps and went back to sleep.
10:20 am - Her temperature was around 100 to 102 thru the night but is down to 98 at this time.
11:00 am - Gave her a lung treatment. They vibrate her lungs to knock off the flem inside then suck it out.
1:00 pm - She hasn't went to the bathroom since they took out the catheter (over 6 hours) so they tried to put it back in and they weren't able to, and it made Leksie very mad. Her blood pressure went up, they had to put her on oxygen (not the tube thru the mouth, a tube that wraps around her nose and pokes into her nose) to keep her going. Their going to let her rest and have the Dr. try and put the catheter in later.
3:00 pm - Misti gets to rock her and hold her for the first time, she played with Misti's necklace for a short time but then whimpered the rest of the time. Then a nurse feed her a little thru a bottle of Pedialite. Looks like not everything can go as planned. Their trying to keep her as calm as possible.
4:00 pm - They told us we had to leave while they try and put the catheter in again.
4:30 pm - The procedure to put the catheter in went alright this time. She is really swollen down there but they were able to get it in. They will leave it in for awhile to let the swelling go down. When they have catheters put in, it sometimes makes it hard for them to make themselves pee again because their used to having the catheter do it work for them.
6:00 pm - Leksie finally woke up and her blood pressure is looking good again. She would look at us and give us her sad face and cry a little bit. Its good for her to cry to help clear out her throat and lungs, and it helps with opening the lungs up, because when she just sleeps it doesn't open the lungs up big enough. She is still swollen and her eyes don't open very far, she looks a lot like when she was first born.
6:10 pm - The nurse gave her a feeding sitting up right in bed. She was able to have Misti's milk that she pumped out this time, and she drank it all. They may take out the tube in her neck later tonight so stay connected. Hopefully with all your prayers she will be able to move out of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit tomorrow.
8:10 pm - Came back and Leksie was very upset and hungry and all the nurses were busy with emergency's but we got some help and we're able to get her feed and burped.
9:15 pm - They gave her sedatives and pain killers
9:40 pm - The Dr. came and removed the neck tube. Leksie screamed and was upset but Daddy was here. They had to hold pressure on the wound, if Leksie wakes up or gets upset they have to get their quickly and apply pressure or she will loose too much blood. The next hour is important for that wound to heal.
11:45 pm - Still sleeping - we don't want to budge her because it will affect that neck wound.
