2:30 p.m. - Visit with an Anesthesiologist - She will be given a gas mixture that is given thru a breathing mask and will put her into a deep sleep and a painless state. Will be given 2 IV's, a relaxer, narcotic and antibiotic.
3:00 p.m. - History & Physical - Went good
3:30 p.m. - Visit with David R. Clarke, M.D., Cardiothoractic Surgeon who will perform Leksie's operation. Will take 3 to 4 hours but we will not see her for 5 hours. She will be kept alive by the heart/lung machine. They will make a cut thru the breast bone and operate thru the valve. The heart will be stopped completely and they will sew a gortex patch over the hole, just on the right side. They also found a second small hole that they will repair with one to two stitches. The heart will be filled up with blood again and warmed and the heart will start up on its own (hopefully).
4:00 p.m. - Blood Test
On Tuesday, March 16,1999, we will register at 6:00 a.m. The surgery is scheduled for this day at 8:00 a.m. with Dr. Clarke
