Q. Why do I need SecureIT Plus?
A. Without computer protection, you are susceptible to computer damage, financial loss, or both because of a computer virus or spyware that sneaks onto your computer. In a recent issue of Consumer Reports, they reported that if you use the Internet at home you have a 1-in-3 chance of being negatively affected by computer viruses or spyware. As a subscriber to SecureIT Plus, you will no longer have to worry about your anti-virus protection, Spyware protection, or anything else related to the privacy of your information or the protection of your computer. SecureIT Plus also automatically applies Microsoft patches after testing them to ensure continued protection. In addition, the service will also provide ongoing maintenance by optimizing file storage and disk defragmentation for faster PC performance.

Q. Do I need SecureIT Plus if I have Norton/McAfee/other anti-virus protection on my computer?
A. It is great to see that you have taken the time to protect your computer from Internet security issues. SecureIT Plus will give you the same protection and more. A recent survey conducted by the National Cyber Security Alliance found that the majority of computer users did not have their anti-virus protection installed correctly or did not have it updated. SecureIT Plus is fully automated. We will install it for you and once installed, you don't have to manage the software to make sure your protection stays updated. With SecureIT Plus it is taken care of for you automatically. With Norton or McAfee you must install, maintain, and make sure the service stays updated. In addition, besides up-to-date protection from spyware, viruses, and other malicious programs, SecureIT Plus will automatically keep your system current with critical patches to your Microsoft operating system. Most people don't understand patches, let alone take the time to stay current. Yet, without these patches your computer and/or network can easily be compromised. In addition, the service will also provide ongoing maintenance by optimizing file storage and disk defragmentation for faster PC performance. These services are not included with Norton and McAfee anti-virus protection software. Support for SecureIT Plus is free and the service is guaranteed. If you experience problems with an Internet-delivered issue while using SecureIT Plus, we will fix your computer free of charge. With Norton and McAfee you pay for support calls, and if you experience problem with an Internet-delivered issue, you will pay to receive assistance.

Q. Will you (or someone else) have access to my computer if I use SecureIT Plus?
A. Absolutely not. SecureIT Plus was built with your security and privacy as first priority. All the updates, scanning, and protection happen from your computer and nothing is sent to us outside of the reporting statistics which are made fully available to you on our reporting Web site and through our month e-mail summary. The only time we have access to your machine is when you explicitly grant it to us during your use of the Remote Installation or Remote Support request. Even then we require that you put in a one time use code that allows your computer to connect to our Operation Center granting us permission to assist you.

Q. Do I still have to have a separate Anti-virus program?
A. No, the SecureIT Plus service will provide you with everything you need to safely navigate the Internet and effectively and efficiently use your computer.

Q. Is there anything that I need to do to keep things updated?
A. No, if you happen to have your computer off at the time the program runs its various scanning processes and updates, they will automatically run the next time that you turn your computer on.

Q. How do I know that I am being protected?
A. You will receive a monthly e-mail detailing the activities that have been executed by your SecureIT Plus software. In addition you can check the Online Reports anytime, which are updated every 24 hours.

Q. What if I have/use a firewall?
A. Since our service never contacts your computer, and the vast majority of firewalls are designed to block incoming traffic, this software is compatible with 99+% of all firewalls.

Q. What happens if I get a virus or some type of Spyware on my computer?
A. In the very unlikely case that you do get a virus or spyware threat on your computer we will do our best to remove the problem at no cost.

Q. Does SecureIT Plus with parental controls monitor all user accounts?
A. Unlike some other parental control programs that offer confusing and hard to configure settings for each individual user, SecureIT Plus with parental controls will monitor each profile using that PC. This is especially helpful for families who have multiple users to monitor, who all use the same PC.

Q. How does SecureIT Plus with parental controls protect my child from Internet predators?
A. One of the biggest deterrents online predators face is the fear of getting caught, and the threat and danger of being arrested. While SecureIT Plus with parental controls can't stop predators from hunting for children on the Internet, it does offer a substantial safeguard for your children by allowing you to monitor their Internet activity.

Q. Naturally I want to protect my children, but should I feel guilty spying on them?
A.The Internet is NOT a safe place for children to venture without supervision. Unless you can sit with them and supervise them while using the Internet, you need to have some strong controls in place.

Q. Some computer protection programs allow me to install the service on multiple computers for a single license cost. Is that available with SecureIT Plus?
A. SecureIT Plus provides a maximum level of protection with automatic updates and access to free technical support at a cost below what our competitors would like to charge you for their unsupported versions. For this reason, one license can be used for only one computer.

Q. Can I report a site as inappropriate so you can add it to your list?
A. Yes. Simply send us an e-mail and we'll review the site. In the short term, make sure to add the site to your blocked sites list to prevent access. We welcome your feedback to make our lists more extensive and our service better.

Q. Can I install and use the software on a network?
A. No. SecureIT Plus is designed to work at the PC level only.

Q. Do the parental controls in SecureIT Plus disable MSN and AOL parental controls?
A. SecureIt Plus with parental controls will not disable the parental control features of MSN or AOL. However, SecureIt Plus with parental controls can provide the same or better safety for your children.

Q. What are the system requirements to run SecureIT Plus with parental controls on my PC?
A.The minimum system requirements are: (the following system requirements are subject to change with product enhancements)

Operating System - Microsoft Windows 7/Vista/XP (MAC not supported)
Processor - Pentium III or better processor (32bit)
Hard Disk Space - 200mb free space
System Memory - 128mb RAM (512 for Vista)
Internet Connection - Broadband or Dial-up Internet

SecureIT Plus is NOT currently available for the MAC OS.

Q. What type of net connection is best to use with SecureIT Plus with parental controls?
A. It makes no difference whether your connection is via AOL, modem dial-up, cable modem, or DSL. SecureIT Plus with parental controls works with all types of Internet connections.

Q. Are the parental controls web-based or client-based?
A. SecureIT Plus with parental controls is client-based and is part of the SecureIt Plus Desktop Security program. It is updated automatically and offers web-based reports.

Q. What will happen if an attempt is made to view a blocked site?
A. Attempts to access a blocked site will be blocked. A message window will appear explaining that access to that site is blocked and will contain an explanation as to why. An override option is available to users with a valid administrator password.

Q. How does the access control feature work?
A. The access control feature allows the administrator to control the amount of time a user can spend accessing the Internet. Additionally, it can control the window of time that the Internet is available to be accessed.

Q. Does SecureIT Plus with parental controls allow me to control the use of online chat programs?
A. SecureIt Plus with parental controls will allow the adminstrator to disable a user's ability to access chat or limit the time spent using chat programs.

Q. What level of support is included with SecureIT Plus Service?
A. Technical support is included with your monthly service. It is available via online chat, e-mail, phone, and remote based assistance on a 24/7 basis.

Q. Can I control file sharing or illegal downloading of files?
A. Yes. In conjunction with the firewall feature in SecureIT Plus, an administrator can manage access to these sites and restrict certain types of file sharing and downloads.
