Mid-Rivers Communications will award 35 $1,000 Higher Education Scholarships in 2017 to students whose parent/guardian is a Cooperative Member with active local telephone or Internet service. Students must be graduating high school seniors entering their freshman year of a college, university or technical school in the fall of 2017, or current college, university, or technical school undergraduates continuing their education in the fall of 2017.
Ten additional $500 scholarships will also be awarded at the Mid-Rivers Annual Meeting on June 1, 2017, through a drawing of eligible students attending the Annual Meeting in Glendive. To qualify for the drawing, students must be enrolled to attend a higher education institution and must provide documentation of full-time enrollment at the Annual Meeting. Students must sign up at the Annual Meeting to be included in the drawing and must be accompanied by a parent/guardian who is a Cooperative Member with active local telephone or Internet service from Mid-Rivers. Students receiving a $1,000 competitive scholarship and previous scholarship winners are NOT eligible for the drawing.

Scholarship application forms are available below. The completed form, a detailed statement of the applicant’s goals, two letters of recommendation from current teachers, one character reference letter, and a copy of the most recent transcripts, complete with ACT or SAT test score results, must be included and submitted no later than March 31, 2017.
The applications will be judged based on the following criteria:
Scholarship certificates announcing the awards will be presented to recipients in May in time for recognition during graduation or school award ceremonies (if applicable). Scholarship funds will not be dispersed until proof of full-time enrollment in the college, university or technical school of the scholarship recipient is received by Mid-Rivers. Once proof of enrollment is received, payment will be made by a joint check to the recipient and the school. Scholarships must be claimed by December 31, 2017, or the money will be forfeited.
