2010 Mid-Rivers Higher Education Scholarship Winners

 

Mid-Rivers Higher Education Scholarship Winners

Mid-Rivers Communications is proud to announce the recipients of 20 $500 Higher Education Scholarships to high school and college students within Mid-Rivers’ service area. Four scholarships went to current college students, and 16 scholarships were awarded to high school seniors planning to attend four-year universities in 2010-11.
A $500 Mid-Rivers Higher Education Scholarship has been awarded to the following recipients:


Current College Students:

  • Ben Ayre, Glendive, is currently a sophomore at Dawson Community College in Glendive. Ben is finishing up his Associate of Science degree at DCC and he is part of the DCC rodeo team. He plans on attending Montana State University in the fall to pursue a degree in Animal Science.
  • Abigail Carda, Sidney, is a junior at South Dakota School of Mines in Spearfish, SD. She is majoring in both Industrial Engineering and Mathematics. Abigail has a long term goal of becoming a high school Algebra/Trig teacher and inspiring students to enjoy math the way she does!
  • Danielle Cremer, Miles City, is a junior at North Dakota State University. She is working hard to obtain a Master’s degree in Architecture, and hopes to one day work with Architecture for Humanity.
  • Kara Stickel, Glendive, is currently a freshman at Dawson Community College with a 4.0 grade point average. She has plans to attend Miles Community College in the fall and continue working towards a degree in nursing.


Future Four-Year College Students:

  • Ashley Adkins, Roundup, is co-valedictorian in her class of 54 at Roundup High School and plans on attending Dickinson State University in the fall. She will be majoring in nursing and hopes to eventually get her Physician’s Assistant degree from Rocky Mountain College in Billings.
  • Alex Amsler, Wibaux, who is the valedictorian at Wibaux High School, will be attending University of Montana, majoring in Biological Chemistry. He eventually wants to become an optometrist.
  • Maija Burns, Lewistown, is ranked 9 of 95 at Fergus County High School with a GPA of 3.88. She will be attending the University of Montana in the fall majoring in art and writing.
  • Lacey Doan, Circle, will be attending the University of Wyoming in the fall with plans of obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. She eventually wants to receive her master’s in Physical Therapy.
  • Jake Hastig, Plevna, who is the valedictorian at Plevna High School, will be attending Montana State University Billings in the fall majoring in biology, with his sights set on working with animals.
  • Cory Lovec, Ekalaka, who is valedictorian at Carter County High School, will be attending Montana State University Billings in the fall and double majoring in Pre-Pharmacy and Chemistry. Upon obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree, he wants to attend the University of Montana and work towards a Doctorate in Pharmacology.
  • Marion Min, Ryegate, who is the valedictorian at Ryegate Public School, will be attending the University of Montana in the fall. She hopes to one day become an Occupational Sports Psychologist. Marion is also passionate about music and plans on signing up to be an accompanist while schooling at the University of Montana.
  • Stephanie Nollmeyer, Savage, who has a 4.0 grade point average at Savage High School, will be attending Dordt College in Sioux City, Iowa this fall. She plans to major in Animal Science and continue her childhood goal of becoming a veterinarian.
  • D’Jeane Peters, Grass Range, is the valedictorian at Grass Range High School and will be attending Rocky Mountain College in the fall to double major in Equine Sciences and Communications. She hopes to use her abilities to change the lives of children by promoting causes such as St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Miracle Network.
  • Whitney Peterson, Circle, is ranked 3 of 20 in her graduating class at Circle High School. She plans to attend Montana State University – Northern in the fall. She will be majoring in Elementary Education and eventually wants to teach in a rural community.
  • Joel Pratt, Miles City, who is valedictorian in his class of 115 at Custer County District High School has plans to attend Montana State University in Bozeman and explore the areas of Ag Education and Civil Engineering.
  • Anna Prevost, Lambert, is a straight A student and valedictorian of her graduating class at Lambert Public School. She will be enrolled at Montana State University in the fall.
  • Jerome Rangitsch, Roundup, is co-valedictorian at Roundup High School. He will attend Rocky Mountain College in the fall and will begin the courses needed to obtain a Master’s Degree in Accounting.
  • Joseph Solf, Winnett, is valedictorian of his graduating class at Winnett High School. He wants to become a Construction Engineer and make Montana’s roads safer for everyone. He will work towards this degree at Montana State University in Bozeman.
  • Josh Taylor, Fairview, is enrolled to attend Minot State University in the fall. He has plans to earn a degree in Physical Therapy. During his schooling, Josh will play football for the Minot State University Beavers.
  • Blair Troudt, Sidney, is co-valedictorian at Sidney High School. Blair will continue her education by majoring in Pre-Medicine, and hopes to one day become a pediatrician.
