The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is proceeding at an unprecedented rate with massive and complex reforms of the programs that keep your monthly telephone rates affordable in rural areas. Instead of providing companies like Mid-Rivers with additional support for building out broadband to more of our members, these reforms will cut, cap and eliminate the funding available to us for these purposes today, and will result in mandated increases in your local telephone rates. For more information on how these FCC reforms may affect Mid-Rivers customers, see the current issue of our quarterly 411 Newsletter.
All three of Montana's Congressmen in Washington, D.C. have signed on to letters asking the FCC step back and review the consequences of their reforms on all carriers serving in rural areas, but to make sure they continue sending this message until the FCC listens, they need to hear from you. Ask your members of Congress to take steps to halt these FCC reforms until the real impacts on your monthly local service rates and your ability to access affordable broadband service can be determined, and contact the FCC directly to give them the same message. CLICK HERE for a sample letter, or tell your own story about how these reforms will affect you, your family or your business.
