To set up a new e-mail account or check your current settings, please follow these simple steps. Settings tips are generally designed for Outlook Express but will be similar with most email programs.
- Open Outlook Express (or your email program).
- Click on Tools on the toolbar at the top of the screen.
- Click on Accounts.
- Click on the Mail tab at the top of the screen.
- Click once on your default mail account.
- Click once on Properties on the right hand side of the screen.
- Make sure that your e-mail address is in the E-Mail Address box (i.e., username@midrivers.com).
- Click on the Servers tab at the top of the screen.
- Make sure the "Incoming mail (POP3)" server reads mail.midrivers.com in all small letters, and the "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" server reads smtps.midrivers.com.
- Check the "My server requires authentication" box, click the Settings box, and click the button for "Use same settings as my incoming mail server"
- Make sure your username is typed into the Account name box.
- Make sure that your password is typed into the Password box.
- Make sure there is NOT a check in the box that reads "Log on using secure password authentication."
- Click on the Advanced tab at the top of the screen.
- There should NOT be a check in "Leave a copy of messages on server."
- Click on Apply.
- Click on OK.
- Click on Close.
