To set up a new e-mail account or check your current settings, please follow these simple steps.  Settings tips are generally designed for Outlook Express but will be similar with most email programs.

1. Open Outlook Express (or your email program).
2. Click on Tools on the toolbar at the top of the screen.
3. Click on Accounts.
4. Click on the Mail tab at the top of the screen.
5. Click once on your default mail account.
6. Click once on Properties on the right hand side of the screen.
7. Make sure that your e-mail address is in the E-Mail Address box (i.e., username@midrivers.com).
8. Click on the Servers tab at the top of the screen.
9. Make sure the "Incoming mail (POP3)" server reads mail.midrivers.com in all small letters, and the "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" server reads smtps.midrivers.com.
10. Check the "My server requires authentication" box, click the Settings box, and click the button for "Use same settings as my incoming mail server"
11. Make sure your username is typed into the Account name box.
12. Make sure that your password is typed into the Password box.
13. Make sure there is NOT a check in the box that reads "Log on using secure password authentication."
14. Click on the Advanced tab at the top of the screen.
15. There should NOT be a check in "Leave a copy of messages on server."
16. Click on Apply.
17. Click on OK.
18. Click on Close.
