Speed calling, or abbreviated dialing, lets you store 8 or 30 telephone numbers and place such calls by dialing one or two digits. This includes long distance numbers that are accessible by direct dialing. Speed calling is available in two forms, one which allows you to change the codes from your telephone, and one which requires Mid-Rivers to pre-establish the codes for the numbers you indicate. The 8 number option uses the digits 2 through 9 to store the speed dial numbers. The 30 number option uses the digits 20 through 49 to store the speed dial numbers. Programming your speed dial list is accomplished in the following manner:

With you phone off hook:

1. To enter a number for the 8 list speed dial, dial *74, wait 4 seconds for dial tone.
2. Dial the code location you want to store the number in (2-9).
3. Dial the number which you want to reach when entering the code number which you want to reach when entering the code number (selected in step 2) and wait 4 seconds for 3 bursts of dial tone; then hang up.
4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 for each number to be stored, using a different code for each number entered. If you wish to replace a number, repeat steps 1 through 3. To use speed calling after numbers are coded in, with the phone off hook, dial the selected code number and wait 4 seconds* for the call to be placed.

If you have 30 list speed dial:

1. Dial *75 and wait 4 seconds for dial tone.
2. Dial the code location you want to store the number in (20-49).
3. Continue with steps 3 and 4 above.

* If you own a push button phone, you may avoid the 4 second wait by depressing the # (pound) symbol on the bottom right corner of your phone.
