To set up a new e-mail account or check your current settings, please click on the e-mail program you are using, and follow the instructions.

The preview pane allows you to view a message list and a highlighted message at the same time. The preview pane can make it easier for your computer to contract viruses because it automatically opens messages. If you would like instructions on turning off the e-mail preview pane, please select your e-mail program and follow the instructions.

Follow these simple steps to check your e-mail settings:

1. Open Eudora.
2. Click on Tools located on the toolbar at the top of the screen.
3. Click on Options.
4. Click on Getting Started on the left hand side of the screen under Category (you may have to scroll up to find the icon).
5. Make sure the POP account box has your username@midrivers.com (i.e., commando@midrivers.com) in the box.
6. Click on Hosts on the left hand side of the screen.
7. Make sure the SMTP box reads smtp.midrivers.com.
8. Click on Checking Mail on the left hand side of the screen.
9. Uncheck the box that reads "Leave mail on server." Click on OK.

Eudora 5.1 and 5.2

Follow these simple steps to check your e-mail settings:

1. Open Eudora.
2. Click on Tools located on the toolbar at the top of the screen.
3. Click on Options.

5. Make sure the Return address box has your username@midrivers.com (i.e., commando@midrivers.com) in the box.
6. "Mail Server (Incoming)" should be mail.midrivers.com.
7. "SMTP Server (Outgoing)" is smtp.midrivers.com.
8. Click on Checking Mail on the left hand side of the screen.
9. The Mail Server box should say mail.midrivers.com.
10. Click on Incoming Mail on the left hand side of the screen.
11. "Leave mail on server" should not be checked.
12. Click OK.

Outlook Express

Follow these simple steps to check your e-mail settings:

1. Open Outlook Express.
2. Click on Tools on the toolbar at the top of the screen.
3. Click on Accounts.
4. Click on the Mail tab at the top of the screen.
5. Click once on your default mail account.
6. Click on Properties on the right hand side of the screen.
7. Make sure that your e-mail address is in the E-mail address box (i.e., commando@midrivers.com).
8. Click on the Servers tab at the top of the screen.
9. Make sure the "Incoming mail (POP3)" server reads mail.midrivers.com in all small letters, and the "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" server reads smtp.midrivers.com.
10. Make sure your username (i.e., commando) is typed into the Account name box.
11. Make sure that your password (i.e., ABC12d) is typed into the Password box.
12. Make sure there is NOT a check in the box that reads "Log on using secure password authentication."
13. Click on the Advanced tab at the top of the screen.
14. There should not be a check in "Leave a copy of messages on server."
15. Click on Apply.
16. Click on OK.
17. Click on Close.

Turning off the e-mail preview:

Eudora

1. Click on Tools on the toolbar at the top of the screen.
2. Click on Options.
3. Highlight viewing mail on the left hand side of the screen.
4. Uncheck the option "Show message preview pane." Open Eudora.
