Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI)
CPNI stands for Customer Proprietary Network Information. CPNI is all the information associated with your telecommunications services, including:
- your long distance charges;
- telephone numbers called;
- frequency, duration, timing and location of your telephone calls;
- telecommunication and information services you subscribe to including local, long distance, and/or wireless telecommunications services, cable television and/or Internet service(s).
CPNI is YOUR private information about the services YOU receive from Mid-Rivers Communications.
In December 2007, new rules were put in place by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) governing CPNI. One of the new FCC rules is that Mid-Rivers Communications is now required to use a Personal Identification Number (PIN) or Password when accessing personal account information, by phone or electronically. These rules are designed to safeguard your information from "pre-texters," people who impersonate you in an effort to gain access to your account information, which is your CPNI.
Mid-Rivers Communications sent letters in December 2007 to all existing customers regarding CPNI, which included your Personal Identification Number (PIN). Your initial PIN is comprised of six (6) numbers. You can change this PIN to something easier to remember by calling or visiting our office. If you choose, you can change the PIN to a password comprised of up to 20 characters in length. It can be alpha or alpha/numeric. All new customers will be required to establish a PIN or Password at the time the sign up for services with Mid-Rivers Communications.
If you are calling our business office, you will need to provide you PIN or password to allow us to share information with you on your account. If you come to the business office for information, you may need to provide a valid photo ID before we can share information with you on your account.
